Coco Coalition, Inc.

Organized 38 events for Black women in 8 cities across five states and three countries.

I believe that the best strategic approach starts with community building and support. That's why I co-founded Coco Coalition, a non-profit organization established in 2015, with the Black & Beautiful Women's Brunch event as our flagship project.

We are committed to creating safe spaces where female-identifying Black Women can come together, learn from one another, process their emotions, and build lasting connections. Through our work, we have seen the transformative power of community building firsthand. Additionally, we have launched various community events and initiatives, including the "Black Women in Conversation" series and the annual "Black Mothers Matter" event.

Accomplishments

13 scholarships and counting were granted to women studying mental health, civic engagement, and the arts in the United States.

As part of Coco Cares’ initiative, the organization has provided over 100 girls in Ghana with 400 packs of pads and 400 pairs of underwear to help fight period poverty.

Her Place Is In

Another passion of mine is using creativity for a cause. Through HER PLACE IS IN, an organization dedicated to social action through art, I brought strategic partnerships and opportunities that amplified our efforts through photography, creativity, and community gatherings. Focused on building community, celebrating diversity, and empowering femininity, we are committed to sharing stories, advancing social education, and creating spaces for conversation.

With initiatives like Her Place Is In: Skin, we focused on community building, honoring diversity, redefining beauty standards, and empowering femininity. This project showcased over 36 women of various shapes, sizes, and ethnic backgrounds, all makeup-free and dressed in outfits that complemented their skin tones. By embracing their so-called "flaws," they challenged harmful beauty ideals, demonstrating that beauty transcends color, size, and shape. The true essence of empowerment extends far beyond the surface. Together, these women exemplified the strength found in community and the impact of unity.

National Geographic, along with various other international magazines and global initiatives that honor women, also featured the project!
